Hawzah News Agency – Followers of the Ahlulbayt (AS) school of thought in Nigeria and the Republic of Niger have held mourning ceremonies in multiple cities to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), honoring his memory and legacy.
The ceremonies, organized by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria under the leadership of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, took place on the 28th of Safar across various regions of Nigeria and neighboring Niger, drawing large turnouts of men and women.
Gatherings were held in the cities and districts of Kano, Potiskum, Illela, Lafia, and Konni, with mourners participating in prayers, elegies, and religious lectures.
Kano: Commemoration at Imam Reza Husseiniyah
In Kano, the mourning ceremony was held at the Imam Reza (AS) Hussainiya, beginning with prayers and supplications. Sheikh Imam Yaqub Korna delivered a lecture on the character and status of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Potiskum: Call to Prepare for Prophet's Birth Anniversary
In Potiskum, the ceremony took place at the Fodiya School, where Sheikh Ahmad Al-Hajj Ibrahim addressed the gathering. Malam Ibrahim Lawan, representative of Sheikh Zakzaky's followers in the Potiskum area, concluded the event with brief remarks emphasizing readiness for the upcoming celebration of the Prophet's birth anniversary.
Illela: Prayers and Elegies in Sokoto State
In Illela, located in Sokoto State, mourners recited prayers and performed lamentations, with Sheikh Muhammad bin Ismail, the local representative of Sheikh Zakzaky's followers, delivering a speech.
Lafia: Emphasis on Message of Wilayah
In Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, followers of the Islamic Movement held a mourning ceremony where Sheikh Muhammad Nuruddin Ahmad spoke about the Prophet's passing. He emphasized that the Prophet had fully delivered the divine message before his departure and stressed the importance of the wilayah (authority) of Imam Ali (AS), touching on the events of the Prophet's final days.
Niger Republic: Gathering at Alhaji Boro Mosque
In the Republic of Niger, the commemoration was held at the late Alhaji Boro Mosque, where Malam Sani Ismail Konni delivered a lecture.
The widespread observance across the region reflects the deep devotion of Muslims and followers of the Ahlulbayt (AS) school in Nigeria and Niger to the memory, teachings, and legacy of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH).
